Privacy Notice

This notice describes the information collected when someone uses Reno County Released Inmates, how that information supports the service, and when another party may receive it. It also explains cookies, outside links, security limits, and available privacy choices. By continuing to use the site, a visitor accepts the practices described here.

Information You Submit

Terms Entered in Search Tools

When a visitor types a name, location, or other term into a search box, that query is sent to the third-party provider that operates the tool. This site does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider handles the query under its own terms and privacy practices.

Messages Sent to Us

If someone sends an email or uses an available contact form, we retain the message and its reply details long enough to respond and manage the exchange. We do not share that communication outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.

Technical Data Collected Automatically

Like most web services, the site may receive basic technical and usage details when a page loads. Those details can include:

  • The network IP address associated with the request
  • The browser name and software version
  • The device class and operating system
  • Pages viewed and the amount of time spent on them
  • The referring website, when one is supplied
  • The date and time of each request

Cookies and Similar Storage

Cookies may be used to understand traffic and how visitors move through the site. A browser can block or delete cookies through its settings. Some functions may work differently or less smoothly when cookies are disabled.

How Information Supports the Site

Collected information is used for limited operational purposes:

  • Keeping pages available, responsive, and reliable
  • Passing search requests to the appropriate partner tool
  • Understanding which Reno County release resources visitors use
  • Finding errors, abuse, and technical failures
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect general visitor interests

Government and Outside Links

Pages may link to the Reno County Sheriff, Kansas VINE, KASPER, court portals, facility pages, public-record sources under the Kansas Open Records Act process in K.S.A. 45-218, and third-party search tools. Once a visitor follows an outside link, that destination controls its own data collection and privacy policy.

Advertising providers may use their own technology to observe activity across more than one website and select interest-based ads. That tracking occurs on the provider’s systems, not in a Reno County government records system and not through a database operated by this site.

Parties That May Receive Data

We do not sell personal information. Limited information may still be processed by:

  • Search partners that receive and answer submitted queries
  • Analytics providers that measure traffic and page use
  • Advertising networks that deliver and assess ads
  • Law enforcement or another government authority acting under a valid legal order

Security Practices and Limits

Reasonable, commonly used safeguards are applied to information under our control. No website, network, transmission, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. We therefore cannot promise that a breach, interception, loss, or unauthorized access will never occur.

Visitors Under Eighteen

This service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a parent or guardian believes a minor submitted information, they may ask that it be located and deleted.

Your Privacy Choices

Subject to applicable law and our ability to verify a request, a person may ask to:

  • Receive a copy of personal information held by us
  • Correct information that is inaccurate
  • Delete information that is no longer required
  • Opt out of certain forms of processing where that choice is available

Changes to This Notice

This privacy notice may be revised as services, providers, or legal duties change. The updated wording will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Continued use after an update is posted means the revised notice applies.
